History

History of Elim Christian School

Elim Christian School began when the Holy Spirit created a vision in the hearts and minds of a small group of Christian educators in Houston, Texas.  These teachers and administrators saw a need for a unique Christian school, a school that would be a place for students of all academic abilities. In 2013, this group officially formed a Steering Committee and began to plan, dream, and pray about bringing the vision to reality.

The vision for ECS was born partly out of the disappointment that some Christian families in the Houston area had experienced in choosing a school.  They hoped to find a school for their children where the living God is honored, Christ is openly acknowledged, and the Spirit is welcome but that also offered individualized programs for students with unique academic and/or developmental needs.  Elim was founded with the desire that it be a place of refreshment, encouragement, and hope for Christian families with children of all academic abilities.

Elim Christian School opened on August 25, 2014 with six students (pictured above) and two teachers, housed at Peace Community Church.  We have grown a little each year and have great hopes to be able to serve many more students in the future.
